Associate professor, HEP Vaud (UER PS), Switzerland
After training as a primary school teacher and later a special needs education teacher, Olivier Delévaux completed his education with a master’s degree in curative pedagogy and a Master of Advanced Studies in public administration.
He has worked as a specialised education teacher, and later as a specialised education teaching consultant before becoming, from 2005 to 2009, the manager of specialised teacher training at the University of Valais. He is currently working at the HEP Vaud as an associate professor within the special needs education unit, and as a scientific collaborator in the primary school pathway. These two roles allow him to, on the one hand, continue his trainer activity, particularly in connection with supporting the professional practice of students, and also address the topic of pupils with a migration background. On the other hand, he still collaborates in the management of a training course by developing projects related to training programs and quality development.
His research work mainly focuses on social inequality, migration, as well as family-school partnerships and early school leaving. He is currently working on a doctoral thesis – under the supervision of Catherine Blaya at the University of the Côte d’Azur in Nice – addressing the biographical and training trajectories of future teachers with migration backgrounds and how this impacts on their career choices and practice of their occupation.
