This research project carried out in French-speaking Belgium aims to support 13 pilot schools in the personalized assistance of students in order to improve their knowledge and motivation in mathematics.
The research project involves supporting thirteen educational teams in the management of enabling environments during the 1st stage of secondary mathematics tuition. These environments are based on differentiation strategies that can be used both in regular math lessons and in personalized support sessions offered to students. The support given to educational teams aims above all to spur the development of professional skills by addressing both an educational dimension and a didactic dimension. Support in schools is part of a situated approach, in that the development of these skills is integrated into the actual practice of teachers. Finally, the research design focuses on collaboration between teachers and the sharing of practices.
