Dance adapted to the needs of all students

The aim of this research project is to analyse the actual practices of dance teachers working with students with special educational needs in “ordinary” or specialized classes.

Brief research overview

The aim is to understand these practices, which, in Quebec, have not yet been documented or analysed, and to understand how dance lessons contribute to providing a supportive environment for the education of students with special educational needs (SEN).

Main objectives

The aims of this research project taking place in Quebec are:

To describe and understand how knowledge is adapted and transposed (Chevallard,1985/1991; Perrenoud, 1998; Martinand, 2003; Raymond, 2014) for the students of these dance classes;
To describe and understand which identity strategies (Camilleri et al., 1990; Dubar, 1991; Duval, 2011) are mobilized by dance teachers in their interactions during class (Odier-Guedj, 2012);
To document the obstacles and factors facilitating the adaptation of knowledge to promote the success of everyone (Fougeyrollas, 1989; 2010).
