“I seek to promote inclusive education as a means to take better account of student diversity and reduce inequality in school. A pedagogy based on creativity could be the driving force for inclusive action in favour of a collective type of learning in a school environment that respects singularities and cognitive variability. ”
A professor in modern literature, holder of the CAPPEI (certificate of professional aptitude for inclusive education practices and specialized professional training) and with a complementary certification in contemporary dance, Evelyne Clavier became the coordinating teacher of a ULIS TFC unit (cognitive function disorders) of a Parisian high school in 2015. There she conducts action research where she mobilizes the bodies of her students to promote their academic retention and develops disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge as well as transversal skills in an enactive conception of cognition.
The active, interactional, and collaborative pedagogies implemented in interdisciplinary didactic mechanics which require a physical commitment were described and analysed, including their empowering impact on the learners.
Her research focuses on didactic and pedagogical accessibility via a more embodied approach of cognition and language, as well as on teaching practices inspired by Universal Design of Learning (UDL) to meet the needs of all students.
