“I am always in awe of what students have to say about their school experience when given the space and the means of expressing themselves. ”
After studying anthropology and education, I worked for over 5 years as a special needs teacher and then as an orthopedagogist supporting the integration of students with autism, as well as for a private practice. In 2020, I completed a cotutelle phd at the Université du Québec at Montreal (Canada) and the University Lumière Lyon 2 (France) on the relationship to writing of adolescents with an autism spectrum disability. I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Andragogy at the University of Montreal (Canada) in the field of educational interventions for students with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
I am interested in pedagogical approaches leading to a reduction in the obstacles that are in the way of the attendance, participation, and success of all students – and more specifically people with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder- in adaptation and academic success, as well as in remedial education. I am also interested in research schemes that help amplify the voice of students with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders. My research themes are addressed from an ethnographic perspective allowing for an exploration, in a natural context, of the points of view of various stakeholders involved with school, including students.
My current projects focus on the relationship to writing and the out-of-school writing practices of adolescents with intellectual disabilities, in order to better understand the use of writing in these young people and to support their learning experience.
